Recently there have been a couple of anonymous users posting comments, but they never show up on the site. This was discovered through the spam service reporting. So, the question is, are they being blocked by the spam service even though it says that the messages are fine? Or are people just not clicking Submit to finish the process?
We'll do some testing to see what we can determine. If you're reading this and want to help, please post a comment. If that doesn't work, please use the contact form to let us know.
Thanks.

Re: Problems posting comments?
This is a test post being done anonymously.
Re: Problems posting comments?
After some additional testing, we haven't been able to duplicate the apparent issue. When testing anonymously we see the same exact reports from the spam service as when the missing comments are posted.
The one possibility is that people trying to post aren't actually completing the submission. When submitting any content we currently force you to preview what you are posting before it is submitted. This lets you see what your post will look like and give you an opportunity to edit the content before you are finished. If you preview the comment, you still have to click the Post comment button. If you don't, your comment (or any other content) is effectively discarded the moment you browse to another page.

Re: Problems posting comments?
After much deliberation, we decided to see if we could recover any of the posts that went missing. As it turns out, this is a completely manual effort, and we likely will not do it again. Especially as this does not appear to have been a problem caused by spam filtering.
The posts we recovered are noted clearly in the text. They also point back to this thread for more information.
