It is often said that Democrats have a wide tent. As one with a long background in structural inspections, I would remind us that once a tent structure reaches a certain critical width, it will collapse. I've witnessed the Democratic Congress collapse under it's own 60 vote weight on issues critical to American working families. The Republicans have shown unity. The Democrats are self-destructing. I can't say it any plainer.
I know you don't want to read a long missive on this subject, so I'll get right to the point. We need to play hardball with Democrats that don't stand strong for working families. Forget about the lesser of two evils. If a Democrat does not act in concert with core Democratic values we need to send her and her peers a very strong message. We will not just sit it out and remain silent, we will shout her sins from the housetops. We must make it known, and we certainly have to make it known to the transgressor why we are doing this to them. We cannot support those who do not support us. It's as simple as that. We might even cause a race or two to be lost by our unfaithful friends, and that is exactly what I would hope for. The word would spread like wildfire.
The union money was not wasted trying to unseat Blanche Lincoln. Don't think there aren't some politicians that aren't a bit worried. We need to keep up the pressure, and increase it.
I believe holding Democrats accountable to preserving our core values is the most effective strategy we can pursue under our current circumstances. - Buck
