Earlier in July, we were asked if we knew that Leslie Frane--our Executive Director for Local 503--was leaving to take a job back east? That was news to the Eye. Since this wasn't coming from any of the regular union activist-types, we thought we better check into it. It sure sounded like a rumor, but you never know.

We had a chance to chat briefly with Leslie at the July Board of Directors Meeting. When we asked her the question, she was as surprised as we were. She says this comes up every once-in-a-while. However, she is definitely not leaving SEIU 503 at this time. To misquote Mark Twain, "the rumors of Leslie's departure have been greatly exaggerated."

The closest we could figure is that perhaps people were hearing about the departure of Alice Dale, the President of Local 49 in Portland.
