What form should our pay cut take?

SEIU has offered up the Governor's recommended furlough days to try and jump-start bargaining. While it hasn't worked yet, the mere fact of the furlough days represents a pay cut. If we are faced with a pay cut, don't we have at least two options? How do you prefer to get the fuzzy end of the lollipop?

EDIT: Fixed the percentages to represent that the pay cut is 1.5(38)% for two years.

Take 8 unpaid furlough days (1.5(38)% reduction)

Cut the pay scales 1.5(38)% and work the same number of days

Re: What form should our pay cut take?

The numbers given to the bargaining team by SEIU research staff indicate 1.5% reduction in pay results from losing 64 hours of pay over 2 years. Where did you get 3%? SEIU members are welcome to join the bargaining team anytime we convene. Next scheduled 2/23 and 2/24 at SEIU HQ in Salem.

Re: What form should our pay cut take?

Absolutely correct. It is 1.5(38)% for both years. We'll correct the numbers. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
